Our Huion H610 Pro V2 Review
The H610 Pro V2 has a familiar design with a light weight and a generous drawing area. There are two modes to choose from: phone and PC. This allows for true creative freedom.
Each of these modes has a corresponding drawing area size. When working in phone mode, the 10” x 6.25” working area is reduced, allowing you to create mobile-friendly drawings.
This tablet is only compatible with Android devices, so you won’t be able to draw on an iPad or iPhone. Compatibility with some Android devices, mainly the Samsung Galaxy 5 series, is sketchy, so the company encourages customers to contact them to see if their phone is compatible.
The innovative tilt control system allows for better pressure detection and cursor positioning, so you create natural, precise lines. This also allows for a more natural feel when you’re drawing – just as if you were painting on a canvas.
The battery-free stylus allows for truly cord-free drawing. You never have to deal with clunky pen charging cables, and you don’t have to worry about your pen dying while you’re in the middle of drawing. And because the stylus doesn’t have a battery, it’s lightweight and feels more balanced while you’re drawing.
The H610 Pro V2’s specs are pretty impressive for a budget tablet: 8192 levels of pressure, 233 PPS response rate, and 5080 LPI resolution. The high pressure sensitivity and response rate allows for more accurate and precise lines.
The tablet also offers a number of press keys and soft keys that will streamline your work and minimize interruptions. Along the side of the drawing area, you’ll find eight press keys that you can customize if you wish. The default functions include: zoom in, zoom out, pencil, eraser, undo, scroll, increase pencil size, decrease pencil size.
Along the top of the tablet’s work area, you’ll find 16 soft keys that can also be customized to your liking. The pen also has two press keys which can be customized. The installation guide will walk you through the process of customizing your keys.
Huion makes it as easy as possible to streamline your creation process so that you can get your vision onto your digital canvas.
In addition to Android, which we discussed earlier, the H610 Pro V2 is compatible with Windows 7 or later and Mac 10.11 or later.
It also works with most major creative software programs, including Photoshop, Corel Painter, illustrator, Clip Studio, Manga Studio, Gimp, Zbrush, Krita and more.
Along with the tablet, stylus and pen holder, Huion also includes a mini USB cable, eight pen nibs and a quick-start guide to get you through the set-up process. You should be able to take your tablet out of the box, plug it in, install the drivers, and get to work. You won’t have to wait two hours or more for your pen to recharge either.
Installation is simple and straightforward, but some users have had some compatibility and connectivity issues (more on that shortly).
- User-friendly, portable design
- Responsive and accurate for more natural drawings
- Multiple customizable keys
- Battery-free pen for cord-free drawing
- Compatible with Android devices
- Some compatibility and connectivity issues
The only real complaint with this tablet is that some people have connectivity or compatibility issues. Primarily, we’ve seen complaints about Mojave 10.14 on Mac, but a driver update seems to have resolved the problem for many people.
Also, some people complain that they have issues getting the tablet to connect. Again, this issue seems to be a problem with Mac users, and many people have been able to fix the problem by updating their drivers.
Overall, the Huion H610 Pro V2 is a great budget drawing tablet that offers excellent resolution, response rate and pressure levels. The compatibility for Android is a nice perk, and it allows you to create art right on your phone or tablet. The ability to customize the press and soft keys allows you to streamline your creative process while minimizing interruptions.
If you’re just getting started with digital art or you’re an established artist on a tighter budget, the Huion H610 Pro V2 is a great model that offers all of the features you want without the fluff.
